This is a summary of notes I took while listening to an awesome podcast named as "Styrofoam" created by IDC (IIT Bombay) students to assist other design students. Even if you read these notes, I recommend that you listen to the original podcast series on Soundcloud because it is a lot of fun.
AFTER CEED
Following ceed, you will be given a screening task in which you must select your desired discipline. You'll need to show top projects or work in progress in that discipline that you've worked on. Make a presentation of your work by documenting it.
As soon as you receive your score and are qualified, upload the required documents, answer the questions, and complete the screening tasks.
If you're applying to multiple disciplines, each one has a different screening task. To avoid technical issues, keep uploading your assignments as soon as you finish them, one by one. You can make changes later.
There will be a screening task as well as a task specific to the discipline. Work as meticulously as possible on the assignments. Don't leave any information out. Choose the top two projects to work on. Make a list of why you want to practice that discipline. What are the different levels of expertise when it comes to working with materials and software? What are the topics of your personal research?
While you're waiting for the results, work on your portfolio and gather the necessary documents for verification. Read the mail carefully to determine which documents you will need to bring with you. Maintain digital copies of all documents both online and on a pendrive.
Studio tests are on-the-spot assessments of your design thinking, approach, and problem-solving abilities conducted the day before the interview. Some discipline-specific tests are limited to text and sketching, while others may include tasks such as building physical automobile models. Studio tests are given a lot more scrutiny. Prepare for the interview, which may include a discussion of the studio test. In the studio test, you should be able to justify whatever decision and approach you took.
Confirm the location of the studio test and the day's schedule.
Interview schedules are posted in the same location as the studio test. Make sure you double-check your name and the amount of time you've been given. When you go to the interview, make sure you have all of your original documents with you.
Eat something in the time between sessions when you have free time.
Choose activities that will help you relax throughout the day. Anything that clears and refreshes your mind while also reducing the pressure, such as wandering around the locations, getting to know other candidates, and making a good first impression.
All about interview in the next part.
