This is a summary of notes I took while listening to an awesome podcast named as "Styrofoam" created by IDC (IIT Bombay) students to assist other design students. Even if you read these notes, I recommend that you listen to the original podcast series on Soundcloud because it is a lot of fun.
Tips before and during CEED
- Completely solve and evaluate the previous year's paper with solutions. Learn what to expect during the exam. Recognize where you went wrong.
- Display the question paper on the computer screen in order to get used to the exam environment.
- When it comes to part A, don't take negative marking lightly. Only solve if you're sure. Don't just go with the first logical solution that comes to mind.
- Keep a wristwatch with you. *Pro tip : You can carry a clay eraser or a any new eraser to solve cube or dice related problems quickly.
- For Part B, summarize the question to make it easier to understand. Read through all and get your mind over them.
- Think on paper. Capture every ideas about the solutions.
- Practice memory drawing and sketching of everyday objects and scenes.
- Begin putting together a portfolio while studying for the exam. Include all sketches and scraps in your portfolio to demonstrate your willingness to learn during the interview.
- Get out of town early. Bring a water bottle with you. Find the restroom. Carry fewer stationery items. If the center is close by, familiarize yourself with it.
